Nuestra Historia Argentina

Our Argentine Story

As farmers face rapidly changing global demands, coupled with the COVID-19 crisis and the new low touch economy, taking the best steps to modernize operations and become agile and resilient are paramount. Cazenave and Assoc. of Argentina and Growers Insight of the United States have joined together to form Growers Insight Argentina (GIA). The company offers innovation consulting and implementation services plus their FREE Grower assessment tool helps producers and Ag businesses through their farm modernization journey in Argentina - focused on profitability and sustainability.

GIA combines the vast experiences and relationships each company has built throughout ag and innovation to provide leadership, social impact and advance the industry by leveraging technology through unprecedented diversity. With thousands of new technologies inundating the Ag sector, their Grower AgTech Audit™ provides an assessment of the farmer’s operation and paves the way to increased productivity, profits, and sustainability.

During the Argentina AgTech week in 2019, Aaron Magenheim, CEO of Growers Insight met Marcos Botta, CEO of Cazenave at an event in Rosario, Argentina where they started a conversation around how to use the system they were building in the USA to help farmers increase their success with technology in Argentina and beyond. As the two learned more about the other's company and industry needs they decided it was necessary to leverage each other’s experiences to further help Argentina growers.

The establishment of Growers Insight Argentina comes from a long history of driving innovation throughout Agriculture. Co-founder Aaron Magenheim started his career in his family’s irrigation business in California before he founded Signature AgTech in 2011 to focus on selling and supporting a variety of technology solutions to farmers. In 2014, he became frustrated with the available technology and started spending much of his time in Silicon Valley where he started AgTech Insight allowing him to learn the new tech and investment side of the emerging industry and help connect the innovators to farmers.

Showing early leadership in the emerging industry, Aaron has traveled the globe working with clients, speaking at events and building a network of thought leaders across the AgriFood value chain. Today, AgTech Insight is a global firm providing implementation and consulting services to large public and private organizations throughout Agriculture and food. Aaron has also co-founded technology startups, built remote development teams in Asia, and distribution networks for AgTech.

In 2015 he first met Federico Mayer of Club AgTech and has since hosted hundreds of Argentina farmers in California along with traveling to Argentina multiple times for AgTech week, APPRISID and other engagements.

In 2016 Aaron was introduced to Danny Royer who was VP of tech at Bowles Farming who was working with dozens of tech solutions and known as one of the most progressive and successful growers at implementing technology. Danny has worked for a variety of large, conventional, vertically integrated, and small, organic operations through his career - always driving modernization and cultural change and had developed incredible experience from within farming operations, processing and food companies.

Over the years as their relationship grew, they started discussing the detailed shortfalls of technology throughout Ag. In 2018 they started formulating a system to help farmers and Ag businesses leapfrog over most of the innovation learning curves, expense and headaches they had each endured over their careers.  They went to work building, testing and proving a duplicable process to speed up modernization and transition from historic ways into to an agile and resilient food production system, starting with the farmer.

After spending over a year working with a handful of farmers refining their system and seeing the incredible results of their deliberate efforts they officially started Growers Insight to provide their services to farmers and food companies. Today they are working across the USA directly with clients as well as through select strategic partners and are quickly expanding their business.

“Expanding our business to Argentina was a must” CEO and co-founder of Growers Insight, Aaron Magenheim states “Working with Argentine farmers and companies over the years has shown that there is a lot to gain by sharing best practices and tools between the USA and Argentina. We have spent years in muddy boots: using, selling, supporting, and combining AgTech solutions from around the globe to find what works and why in different operations so I am excited to expand and share our expertise with Argentine farmers.”

The modernization process is often slow due to historic company cultures and lack of successful execution. Through the systems they have built, GIA equips farmers and food companies with the much-needed strategy and implementation support to move into the new Ag paradigm.

What is agriculture technology?

Modern farms and agricultural operations work far differently than those a few decades ago, primarily because of advancements in technology, including sensors, devices, machines, and information technology. Today’s agriculture routinely uses sophisticated technologies such as robots, temperature and moisture sensors, aerial images, and GPS technology. These advanced devices and precision agriculture and robotic systems allow businesses to be more profitable, efficient, safer, and more environmentally friendly,

Farmers no longer have to apply water, fertilizers, and pesticides uniformly across entire fields. Instead, they can use the minimum quantities required and target very specific areas, or even treat individual plants differently. Benefits include:

  • Higher crop productivity

  • Decreased  use of water, fertilizer, and pesticides, which in turn keeps food prices down

  • Reduced impact on natural ecosystems

  • Less runoff of chemicals into rivers and groundwater

  • Increased worker safety

In addition, robotic technologies enable more reliable monitoring and management of natural resources, such as air and water quality. It also gives producers greater control over plant and animal production, processing, distribution, and storage, which results in:

  • Greater efficiencies and lower prices

  • Safer growing conditions and safer foods

  • Reduced environmental and ecological impact
